              <text>I remember that the architecture of the African American museum was just gorgeous. It had similar colors to the Philadelphia Art Museum – like teal and gold colors. I was  shocked when they knocked it down. The museum was never open during my teenager years so I never got the chance to see the inside.</text>

              <text>My cousin Carlos worked at the Lampshade Factory up until around 2000. They made lampshades all day long, from the metal part to the fabric covering. It was a place in the neighborhood where people could get a job. It was steady employment and most people could walk to work. A lot of the condominiums that you see now used to be factories like this one. </text>

He was a delivery man for Klein’s Supermarket and would go after work sometimes. Neighbors would run errands for each other, because not everyone had a car. I knew that if I went to the Auto Store with him, I would go to Dawn Donuts afterwards. </text>

              <text>After going to the auto parts store with my dad, we would sometimes go to Dawn Donuts. I must have been around 10 or 12 years old. There were panels of windows up the driveway so you could watch the donuts come down the conveyor belt. You could smell the fragrance of the donuts down the street. Do you remember the donuts, not the powdered donuts, but the ones with the sugar on top and the jelly inside. Those were my favorite. There were long lines on the weekends, and the shop would even be open ‘til 9 o’clock when we left church in the evening. </text>
